Ithemba COVID-19 update
Dear Ithemba Tenant,
South Africa has stood firm in the fight against COVID-19 (Coronavirus) with a successful month-long national lockdown from 26 March 2020. We would like to express our gratitude to each and every one of our tenants. Your cooperation and support throughout this period are highly appreciated. Thank you for adhering to the rules and regulations of the lockdown as well as those implemented within our buildings. For those of you who have been directly or indirectly affected by COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the effects of the lockdown, we express our sincere empathy.
It is our duty and promise to remain committed in ensuring that your buildings are kept in good condition to ensure your health and safety throughout the gradual stages of lifting the national lockdown restrictions; as announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa on 23 April 2020. We guarantee that maintenance, cleaning, security and all essential work will continue at your buildings. For your convenience and peace of mind, our back office, client relationship and live-in building managers remain operational during this time.
We understand the strain that the lockdown has placed on each of you and have therefore undertaken initiatives to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. The initiatives include:
- Free uncapped internet services for all our tenants during the lockdown period (Applicable to Johannesburg buildings only).
- WhatsApp communications channel for all tenant queries. Our WhatsApp number is 063 804 9498.
- Email support remains operational on hello@ithembaproperty.co.za
- Frequent, additional communications with tenants on lockdown regulations, tips and our #IthembaTalent competition. The competition has seen incredibly talented Ithemba tenants participate. Who knows, we might have unearthed a future winner of SA's Got Talent!
- Subject to stringent qualifying criteria, we endeavor to assist tenants that have been directly affected by COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and who have applied for payment arrangements via WhatsApp and email.
- Our Ithemba Upliftment Foundation has rolled out a COVID-19 relief fund, for qualifying tenants, that could assist in the following:
- School Bursaries for financially affected tenants' children,
- Food hampers to the homeless and vulnerable in our communities,
- A community initiative to make fabric masks,
- Rental assistance on a case-by-case basis.
- More information on this will follow in days to come on our Facebook page and website. We will also open channels for tenants to contribute to this cause.
- Assistance for tenants that need to downgrade to more affordable units with no administrative charges.
- Waiving all penalty charges for the month of April 2020.
- Maintaining strict, increased cleaning regimes to ensure best practice hygiene protocols.
We would like to express our appreciation to tenants who have continued to pay their rent at this time. Standard credit control procedures will continue in as far as possible, during lockdown for anyone that has not been successful in applying for a payment arrangement.
'Much is being asked of you, far more than should have ever been asked. But we know that this is a matter of survival, and we dare not fail. We shall recover, we shall overcome. May God Bless South Africa and protect her people' - Pres. Cyril Ramaphosa
Ithemba thanks you and remains here to serve you.
